Our Available Maine Coon Kittens For Sale

Meet our beautiful kittens. Each kitten has been bred for exceptional health, outstanding temperament, and true-to-standard conformation. Browse our current available Maine Coon kittens below. If you don't see what you're looking for, contact us about upcoming litters and our waitlist.

Maine Coon kittens are unlike any other kitten you'll ever bring home. They grow into the largest non-hybrid domesticated cats in the world — males typically reaching 18 to 22 pounds and some exceeding 25. They're almost like a dog trapped in a cat's body — loyal, social, endlessly entertaining, and famous for their signature chirps, trills, and playful personalities. Buying a Maine Coon kitten from a responsible breeder means you're not just getting a beautiful cat — you're getting a companion who will be part of your family for 12 to 15 years or more.

Our Maine Coon Breeding Standards

All of our Kings and Queens are registered with TICA and CFA and come from exceptional European bloodlines. We prioritize health, temperament, and breed type in our selection process — because the quality of the parents determines the quality of every kitten we produce.

Health First

Every breeding cat in our program is health tested for SMA, PKD, and HCM before entering our breeding program. Our breeding cats also receive regular echocardiograms to monitor heart health over time, as heart conditions can develop even in genetically clear cats. All cats are vaccinated against FeLV and dewormed regularly. Health testing is performed on the parents — not individual kittens — but because both parents have been fully cleared, you can be confident your kitten is coming from the healthiest possible foundation.

Temperament

Sweet, social personalities that pass to offspring. We select breeding cats not just for their physical beauty, but for their temperament. Calm, confident, affectionate parents produce calm, confident, affectionate kittens. Every kitten bred by Mindful Maine Coon Cattery is raised in our home, handled daily from birth, and socialized with children and other pets from day one.

Quality

True to breed standard with excellent structure. Our breeding cats come from WCF champion pedigrees with conformation titles throughout their lineage. That means the size, bone structure, ear set, muzzle shape, and coat quality that define a true Maine Coon have been evaluated by judges and confirmed across generations. When you bring a kitten home from Mindful Maine Coon Cattery, you know what that kitten will grow into.

Why Buy a Maine Coon Kitten From Mindful Maine Coon Cattery?

Not all Maine Coon breeders are created equal, and not all Maine Coon kittens for sale come from the same quality of breeding program. Here's what sets Mindful Maine Coon Cattery apart:

  • Champion Bloodlines — Every kitten comes from WCF champion pedigrees with titled ancestors, meaning the size, structure, and breed type your kitten will grow into have been proven across generations.
  • Health-Tested Parents — Both parents have been health tested for SMA, PKD, and HCM. Our breeding cats also receive regular echocardiograms to monitor heart health over time, as heart conditions can develop even in genetically clear cats. All cats are vaccinated and dewormed regularly. Parent health reports are available upon request.
  • TICA & CFA Registered — Our cattery and all breeding cats are registered with both TICA and CFA, the two most respected cat registries in North America.
  • European Bloodlines — We specialize in European-style Maine Coons known for their dramatic look: strong muzzles, tall tufted ears with lynx tips, heavy bone, and impressive size.
  • Raised in Our Home — Every kitten is born and raised in our Murrieta, California home, handled daily from birth, and socialized with children and other pets.
  • In-Person Visits Welcome — We encourage families to visit our Murrieta, California home, meet our Kings and Queens, see where our kittens are raised, and spend time with available kittens before committing. Transparency is important to us — we have nothing to hide. Please note that in-person visits with kittens are available once they are at least 11 weeks old.
  • Lifetime Breeder Support — We don't disappear after the sale. Every family who buys a kitten from us has access to lifetime support for questions about health, behavior, grooming, and care.
  • Nationwide & International Shipping  — We assist with shipping arrangements across the United States and internationally. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, so your location doesn't have to stand between you and the perfect kitten.
  • Health Guarantee & Insurance — Every kitten leaves our home free and clear of illness. All kittens come with a 1-year health guarantee and 1 month of free pet insurance through Trupanion, so your new companion is protected from day one.

When you buy a Maine Coon kitten from Mindful Maine Coons, you're buying from a program built on transparency, health, and a genuine love for this breed. We're not a kitten mill and we're not a backyard breeder. We're a family who cares deeply about producing the healthiest, most beautiful, best-socialized Maine Coon kittens possible.

Our Champion Bloodline Maine Coons For Sale

Every breeding cat at Mindful Maine Coon Cattery comes from champion bloodlines. Our Kings and Queens carry World Cat Federation (WCF)-registered pedigrees with conformation champions throughout their lineage — cats that were evaluated by judges against the official Maine Coon breed standard and earned their titles based on physical structure, coat quality, and breed type.

Conformation titles mean the cats in our pedigrees weren't just beautiful — they were formally recognized as outstanding examples of the breed. When you see "CH" before a cat's name on a pedigree, that cat earned a Champion title by competing and winning at cat shows judged by breed experts. Several of our cats carry multiple generations of champions in their lines.

This matters when you're buying a Maine Coon kitten because the traits that define the breed — size, bone structure, ear set, muzzle shape, coat quality — are all genetic. Champion bloodlines give you confidence in what your kitten will grow into. You're not guessing what your cat will look like at three or four years old. You're investing in proven lines where those qualities have been evaluated, confirmed, and passed down through generations.

Our breeding cats also receive regular echocardiograms to monitor heart health over time, as heart conditions can develop even in genetically clear cats. All cats are vaccinated against FeLV and dewormed regularly. Parent health reports are available upon request.
  • Up-to-Date Vaccinations — All kittens receive their age-appropriate vaccinations before going home, with records provided.

Available Maine Coon Kitten Colors and Patterns

Because of the diversity in our breeding program, Mindful Maine Coon Cattery produces kittens in a wide range of colors and patterns. Maine Coons are one of the most color-diverse breeds in the world, and our Kings and Queens give every litter the potential for stunning variety:

  • Red — Rich, warm orange tones from our Yasha and Lana pairings.
  • Black Smoke — Dark topcoat over a bright silver undercoat, from our Koosh and Onyx lines.
  • Blue Silver Shaded — Pale silver tipped with cool blue, from our Weasel pairings.
  • White — Pure, striking white from our Snowball litters.
  • Black Tortie/White — Complex mosaics of black, red, and white from Gucci's litters.
  • Classic Tabby — Bold, swirling whorls of color — one of the most iconic Maine Coon looks.
  • Mackerel Tabby — Fine vertical stripes running down the body.
  • Solid — One uniform color from root to tip.
  • Bi-color — Two distinct colors, typically white combined with another.

Available colors vary by litter. If you have a specific color or pattern in mind, contact us and we'll let you know which upcoming litters are most likely to produce it.

Maine Coon Kittens For Sale — Pricing

Maine Coon kittens from a responsible breeder are a significant investment — and for good reason. The cost of producing a healthy, well-socialized kitten from champion bloodlines includes comprehensive genetic health testing, premium veterinary care, high-quality nutrition, TICA and CFA registration, and the time and expertise required to raise each kitten in a home environment with daily handling and socialization.

Our pricing reflects the quality of our breeding program, the health testing we invest in, and the lifetime support we provide to every family. Our kittens start at $3,000, with pricing varying based on color, pattern, and gender.  We are transparent about pricing because we believe families deserve to know what they're investing in before they inquire.

Interested in a retired King or Queen?  We occasionally place our retired breeding cats into loving pet homes. Retired cats are fully health-tested, socialized, and make wonderful companions. Contact us directly for availability and pricing on retirees.

A note on cost: Maine Coons are also a financial commitment beyond the purchase price. They eat more than average-sized cats, need larger supplies (litter boxes, carriers, cat trees), and benefit from pet insurance. The owners who are happiest with their Maine Coons are the ones who planned for these realities rather than being surprised by them.

Our Health Testing Program

Health is the foundation of everything we do at Mindful Maine Coons. We believe that buying a kitten for sale should never be a gamble on genetics, which is why we invest in health testing for every breeding cat in our program. All health testing is performed on the parents — our Kings and Queens — before they ever enter our breeding program.

What we test our breeding cats for:

  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) — The most common heart disease in cats. We screen through both DNA testing and regular echocardiograms, as heart conditions can develop over time even in genetically clear cats.
  • Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) — A genetic condition affecting skeletal muscles. DNA testing identifies carriers and prevents affected kittens.
  • Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) — We screen for kidney health as a precaution, even though PKD is more commonly associated with Persian breeds.

All cats are also vaccinated against FVRCP and dewormed regularly.

Individual kittens do not come with their own genetic reports, but because both parents have been fully tested, you can be confident that your kitten for sale is coming from the healthiest possible foundation. Parent health reports are available upon request. The upfront investment in a kitten from health-tested parents often saves thousands in veterinary costs down the road — and more importantly, saves you and your cat from preventable heartbreak.

The Adoption Process

Buying a Maine Coon kitten from Mindful Maine Coon Cattery is straightforward. Here's how it works:

  1. Contact Us — Reach out by phone, text, or email to let us know you're interested. Tell us about your household, your experience with cats, and what you're looking for in a kitten (color preferences, gender).
  2. Visit Us — If you're in or near Southern California, we welcome you to visit our Murrieta home to meet our cats, see where our kittens are raised, and spend time with available kittens. For families further away, we're happy to video call so you can see everything firsthand.
  3. Reserve Your Kitten — Once you've selected a kitten (or chosen to be placed on our waitlist for an upcoming litter), a non-refundable deposit reserves your spot. A contract will be sent to you for review and signature.
  4. Updates and Photos — While your kitten grows, we'll send regular photo and video updates so you can watch them develop.
  5. Veterinary Clearance — Before leaving our home, every kitten receives a full veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, and deworming.
  6. Go Home Day — Your kitten comes home with their TICA pedigree, a bag of food, 1 month of complimentary Trupanion pet insurance, and our lifetime breeder support. In-person pickup at our Murrieta home or shipping assistance is available. Please note that kittens do not go home spayed or neutered  — Maine Coons are a slow-developing breed, and early spay/neuter can affect their growth and development. Buyers are required to spay or neuter between 6 and 9 months of age per our contract.

We take the time to match each family with the right kitten. If you're not sure which kitten is best for your household, we're happy to guide you based on personality, energy level, and temperament.

Preparing Your Home for a Maine Coon Kitten

Bringing home a Maine Coon kitten is exciting, and a little preparation goes a long way. Here's what we recommend having ready before your kitten arrives:

  • Extra-Large Litter Box — Standard litter boxes are too small for Maine Coons, even as kittens. Start with a large box and upgrade as your kitten grows.
  • Sturdy Cat Tree — Maine Coons love to climb and survey their territory from above. Invest in a large-breed cat tree rated for heavy cats.
  • Scratching Posts — Tall, sturdy scratching posts save your furniture and give your kitten an appropriate outlet.
  • Food and Water Bowls — Stainless steel or ceramic bowls are recommended. Many Maine Coon owners love water fountains, since Maine Coons are naturally attracted to running water.
  • High-Quality Food — We'll send your kitten home with the food they've been eating. Transitioning to a new food should be done gradually over 7 to 10 days.
  • Carrier — A large, airline-approved carrier rated for big cats. You'll need this for vet visits and travel.
  • Grooming Supplies — A good brush, nail clippers, and ear cleaning solution. Two to three brushing sessions per week will keep your Maine Coon's coat beautiful.
  • Safe Room — Set up a quiet room where your kitten can acclimate for the first few days before exploring the rest of the house. Before letting them roam freely, take time to kitten-proof your home — remove objects from tables and surfaces they can knock over, cover electrical outlets, and secure or hide any exposed cables and wires. Maine Coon kittens are playful, curious, and fearless. They will knock things over, explore everything, and chew on wires if given the chance.

Maine Coons adapt well to a variety of living situations, from apartments to large homes. The key is providing enough vertical space, mental stimulation, and companionship. If you work away from home full-time, a second cat makes a big difference — a pair of Maine Coons will entertain each other and actually make ownership easier, not harder.

European vs. American Maine Coon Kittens For Sale

If you've been researching Maine Coon kittens for sale, you've likely encountered the terms "European Maine Coon" and "American Maine Coon." While they are the same breed, there are noticeable differences that come from different breeding philosophies on either side of the Atlantic.

European Maine Coons tend to have a more wild, rugged appearance. Their muzzles are stronger and more square, their ears are taller with more pronounced lynx tips, and their overall bone structure is heavier. They often have higher cheekbones, more almond-shaped eyes, and a commanding presence that gives them an almost feral look.

American Maine Coonstypically have a softer, more refined appearance. Their features are gentler, with rounder eyes and a less extreme facial structure. They stay true to the breed's New England heritage and the original look that made the breed famous in early American cat shows.

At Mindful Maine Coon Cattery, our kitten program is built on premium European bloodlines. We love the striking, majestic look that European lines bring to the breed — strong muzzles, tall ears with dramatic lynx tips, and impressive size. All of our breeding cats are TICA and CFA registered with WCF champion pedigrees.

Is a Maine Coon Kitten Right for You?

Maine Coon kittens are an incredible addition to the right household, but they're not for everyone. Before putting down a deposit, it's worth honestly considering whether a Maine Coon is the right fit for your lifestyle.

A Maine Coon kitten might be perfect for you if:

You want a cat who acts more like a companion than a roommate. You have the time for regular grooming and interactive play. Your household includes children, other cats, or dogs — Maine Coons adapt well to all of the above. You have the space (and the sturdy furniture) for a large-breed cat. And you're looking for a long-term commitment — Maine Coons live 12 to 15 years or more.

A Maine Coon kitten might not be the best fit if:

You prefer an independent cat who doesn't need much interaction. You're away from home for long stretches without another pet for companionship. Or you're looking for a hypoallergenic breed — Maine Coons shed and are not considered hypoallergenic. If anyone in your household has cat allergies, spend time around Maine Coons before committing.

Think a Maine Coon is the right fit? Let's talk!

What to Watch Out for When Buying a Maine Coon for Sale

When you search for Maine Coon kittens for sale, you'll find no shortage of options — and not all of them are what they seem. The difference between a responsible, registered breeder and an unregistered and unaccountable backyard breeder or pet store is the difference between a kitten that's been set up for a long, healthy life and one that may come with hidden health problems, behavioral issues, and heartbreak down the road.

Red flags to watch for:

  • No Health Testing — If a breeder can't show you proof of health testing (HCM, SMA, PKD) on both parents, walk away. Health testing is the single most important investment a breeder makes, and skipping it means your kitten's health is a gamble. A breeder who says "our cats are healthy" without test results to back it up is not a breeder you can trust.
  • No Pedigree — A legitimate Maine Coon breeder provides a pedigree showing the kitten's family tree and champion bloodline ancestry. A pedigree is the document that proves your kitten's lineage is real, traceable, and tied to titled ancestors. No pedigree means no accountability — and no way to verify your kitten is actually a purebred Maine Coon. Every kitten from Mindful Maine Coon Cattery comes with a TICA-registered pedigree.
  • No Contract or Health Guarantee —  Responsible breeders provide a written contract that outlines a health guarantee, spay/neuter requirements, and a rehoming policy. If a breeder is willing to hand over a kitten with no contract, they're not invested in what happens to that kitten after it leaves.
  • Won't Let You Visit or See the Parents — A breeder who won't show you where the kittens are raised or let you meet the parents has something to hide. Kittens should be raised in a clean, loving home environment — not in cages, garages.
  • Too Many Litters at Once — A breeder juggling more litters than they can manage likely isn't giving each kitten the individual handling and socialization it needs. The key isn't just how many litters a breeder has — it's whether every kitten is being raised in the home, handled daily, and given proper attention. Quality breeders never produce more litters than they can personally care for.
  • Prices That Seem Too Good to Be True — Health testing, premium nutrition, veterinary care, registration, and proper socialization cost money. If someone is selling "purebred Maine Coon kittens" for a fraction of what registered breeders charge, there's a reason — and it's usually that they've cut corners on the things that matter most.
  • Pet Store Kittens — Purebred kittens sold in pet stores almost always come from commercial breeding operations (kitten mills) where cats are bred for volume, not health or temperament. You'll never see a reputable Maine Coon breeder selling through a pet store.
  • Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace Listings — These platforms are flooded with unregistered backyard breeders, scammers, and people passing off mixed-breed cats as purebred Maine Coons. There is no accountability, no verification, and no recourse if something goes wrong. If a listing has no pedigree, no health testing, and no contract, it doesn't matter how cute the photos are.
  • Online Scams — Kitten scams are extremely common — fraudsters post stolen photos of beautiful kittens at low prices, collect a deposit, and disappear. If you haven't yet seen the Maine Coon kitten for sale you're interested in or verified the cattery, be cautious of anyone asking for payment via wire transfer, Zelle, Venmo, or gift cards upfront. If anyone asks you to pay with a gift card, that is a scam — no legitimate breeder will ever ask for this. Always verify a breeder's legitimacy before sending any money — visit in person, video call, or confirm their cattery registration before committing to a deposit.
  • Kittens Available Immediately With No Waitlist  — Responsible breeders plan litters carefully, and established breeders often have waitlists because Maine Coons only produce a new litter every 9 months, with typically four to six kittens per litter — sometimes less. That means availability is naturally limited. If you're looking at a breeder who always seems to have kittens ready to go with no wait, that's worth questioning — it likely means they're producing too many litters to give each kitten the care and socialization it deserves. Check our available kittens page for current availability, and contact us to join our waitlist for upcoming litters.
  • No Social Media Presence — Reputable breeders have a track record. Look for an active website and social media presence. A breeder with no online footprint is impossible to verify — and that's a problem. At Mindful Maine Coon Cattery, you can follow us on  TikTok @mindfulmainecoons  and Instagram @mindful_mainecoons  to see our kittens, our Kings and Queens, and behind-the-scenes life at our cattery — updated regularly so you always know what's happening.
  • Pushy or Rushed Sales Tactics — A good breeder wants to make sure their kitten is going to the right home. If a seller is pressuring you to commit quickly, discouraging questions, or seems more interested in closing a sale than finding the right match, trust your instincts.
  • Kittens Sent Home Too Early — Kittens should not leave their mother before 12 to 16 weeks of age. Early separation causes behavioral and health problems that can last a lifetime. Any seller offering kittens younger than 12 weeks is cutting corners at the kitten's expense.

At Mindful Maine Coon Cattery, we're transparent about everything we do — from our health testing results to our pedigrees to how our kittens are raised. Unlike the unregistered and unaccountable backyard breeders, every kitten is born and raised inside our home as part of our TICA and CFA registered cattery — not in a garage, shed. We welcome questions, encourage visits, and stand behind every kitten with a written contract and lifetime support. That's what a responsible breeder looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Maine Coon kittens cost?

Maine Coon kittens from a reputable, health-testing breeder with champion bloodlines are a significant investment. Our kittens start at $3,000, with pricing varying based on color, pattern, and gender. Contact us directly to reserve yours.

How big will my Maine Coon kitten get?

Males typically reach 15 to 22 pounds on average, with some exceptional cats exceeding 25. Females usually weigh 10 to 15 pounds. From nose to tail, a fully grown Maine Coon can measure up to 40 inches. They're slow growers — most don't reach full size until three to five years old.

Do you ship Maine Coon kittens?

Yes. We can arrange domestic shipping via a pet courier or flight nanny, or you're welcome to pick up your kitten in person at our Murrieta, California home. We also ship internationally. Contact us for a shipping quote.

What health testing do you do?

All breeding cats are health tested for SMA, PKD, and HCM. Our breeding cats also receive regular echocardiograms to monitor heart health over time, as heart conditions can develop even in genetically clear cats. All cats are vaccinated against FVRCP and dewormed regularly.

What does 'champion bloodlines' mean?

It means the cats in our breeding program have ancestors who earned Champion titles at cat shows judged by organizations like the World Cat Federation (WCF). "CH" before a cat's name on a pedigree indicates a Champion title earned through formal evaluation against the breed standard.

Are Maine Coon kittens good with kids and other pets?

Very. Maine Coons are famously gentle and patient, making them one of the best breeds for families with children. They also tend to coexist well with dogs and other cats, especially when introduced gradually. That said, children should always be taught to handle the cat with respect — a Maine Coon is a living companion, not a toy, and like any animal they deserve to be treated gently.

Are Maine Coons high maintenance?

Less than most people think. Their silky coat resists matting better than many longhaired breeds. Two to three brushing sessions per week, regular nail trims, and standard veterinary care are the main commitments. They're social cats who need companionship, but they're not overly demanding.

Can Maine Coon kittens live in apartments?

Yes. Despite their size, Maine Coons care more about vertical space and mental stimulation than square footage. A tall cat tree, a window perch, and daily interactive play will keep an apartment Maine Coon perfectly content.

Do Maine Coon kittens need a companion cat?

They don't strictly need one, but they strongly prefer companionship. If you're away from home during work hours, a second cat makes a significant difference in their happiness and behavior. A pair of Maine Coons will entertain each other and actually make ownership easier.

What's the difference between a European and American Maine Coon kitten?

Same breed, different look. European lines are bred for a more wild, powerful appearance — bigger ears, stronger jaw, heavier build. American lines are softer and more classic in style. At Mindful Maine Coon Cattery, we specialize in European bloodlines for their dramatic look and size.

How do I reserve a Maine Coon kitten for sale?

Contact us by phone, text, or email to discuss available and upcoming kittens. Once you've chosen your kitten (or joined our waitlist), a non-refundable deposit secures your reservation. We'll send regular updates and photos as your kitten grows.
